Fuel Procedures

  • All trucks/equipment are outfitted with a Wex fuel card.  You are to use card that is attached to visor in truck if you need fuel out on the road.  Never let your vehicle or equipment get below a ¼ tank.  All trucks and equipment will start off the storm with a full tank and should have enough fuel to last a normal storm.  Any prolonged storms might require you to fill up while out on road.  We do store diesel at our Ridgewood and Ringwood locations as well as some jobsites. Use those location if you are close or receiving a load of salt, otherwise you must fill up while out on the road.

  • Wex Card fuel ID pin number is the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

  • All sites that have equipment stored will have access to fuel closeby or the fuel will be stored on site in a fuel storage container.

  • Always make sure that you confirm if the truck or equipment is diesel or gas and fill appropriately.

  • Wex Cards are for fuel use only. No supplies are allowed to be purchased.

  • To prevent spills, do not leave your equipment or truck while you're filling with fuel.

  • Always make sure you fuel caps are put back on securely.

  • If you are fueling up during a storm, make sure rain or snow does not get into tank.

  • Fuel up all trucks on your way back in at the end of the storm.

  • Keep in mind the time of day. If you are going into an overnight shift, top truck off even if you are not at ¼ tank.  It is hard to find fuel overnight in some areas.

  • All diesel equipment must have fuel additive added based on the amount of fuel be added.

  • All equipment on site must be left with a full tank of fuel. Use the onsite fuel storage containers when needed.

  • When filling up fuel with our tanks you must fill out the online form via the dashboard. Please include all requested information including your name, location of fuel tank, total gallons and truck or equipment if applicable.
